Write, poet: write
of misshapen mishaps,
of the long awaited rain,
of a walk with butterflies,
of little things that fill homes,
of fathers who lose their children,
of the clear resonance of the empty north,
of snow in rain when coming back from fencing,
of a curious warm feeling -- that warmth for you
(burning me down,
millions of years in the making),
of the end of you and I.

I.
I'm so tired of all the sweethearts and young beaus
comparing their loves to the stars,
the infinitesimal specks of luminiferous ether up yonder,
yet I'll chop off all the stars in the cosmos
as if they were hanging from a thread in a little boy's room,

yet I'll turn all the diaphanous clouds of the heavens into concrete,
where it shall plummet from the firmament like its own fallen seraphs
and you can rise from the

Reluctant Heart
Her eyes were doused in heavy mascara
running down cheeks so flawed and broken.
She wasn't in search of a lover that night
Not a heart of emotion as she wandered the streets;
Instead her eyes searched beneath the blanket of rain
for someone who was equally broken inside...
As deep down she knew, beneath her heart reluctantly beating;
That only the shattered could share in this pain.

Into the Rain
Your presence teases me,
Makes me believe that I see you
Out of the corner of my eye,
Standing in the alleyways,
Or hiding behind bookshelves.
I see a glimpse of you,
And then you're gone,
Shoulders fading from view.
Something makes me follow,
Rush to where I saw you
And look wildly for another sign
That you're still here.
I follow you through storms,
Rain so fierce it's almost blinding,
Chasing your smile only
For you to turn away and disappear
Each time I think I've found you.
When I finally catch up with you,
Just when I can't go any further,
You're somewhere I can't reach you;
You're with people I don't know,
Perched high on a balcony,
Or
